Transamerica Pyramid construction nears completion

KPIX-TV news footage from February 15, 1972 with reporter Ben Williams featuring views of construction nearing completion, on the Transamerica Pyramid skyscraper in San Francisco, at 600 Montgomery Street. Williams provides an extensive update on this iconic building's progress and also interviews a member of the construction team, who talks about modern safety features. Note that the first tenant to open for business in the Transamerica Pyramid was Crocker Bank, which held a ribbon cutting ceremony with Transamerica officials and an Open Day for visitors on November 27, 1972. The Transamerica Pyramid was the tallest skyscraper in San Francisco from 1972 till 2017, when it was surpassed in height by the Salesforce Tower. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
This 16mm color reversal film print was scanned in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in September 2024.
