Ron Magers visits the Transamerica Pyramid

KPIX-TV news footage from September 13, 1972 with reporter Ron Magers featuring views of construction nearing completion, on the Transamerica Pyramid skyscraper in San Francisco, at 600 Montgomery Street. Magers provides an update on this iconic building's progress, calling it: "A $34,000,000 engineering marvel" and also predicts that: "It's aesthetic qualities will be the subject of conversations wherever San Francisicans gather for years to come." Magers closes with a standup on top of the Pyramid. Note that the first tenant to open for business in the Transamerica Pyramid was Crocker Bank, which held a ribbon cutting ceremony with Transamerica officials and an Open Day for visitors on November 27, 1972. The Transamerica Pyramid was the tallest skyscraper in San Francisco from 1972 till 2017, when it was surpassed in height by the Salesforce Tower. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
