SLA holds up Hibernia Bank in San Francisco

KPIX-TV news footage from April 15, 1974, with reporters Mike Lee and Ed Arnow in San Francisco featuring scenes from the Sunset District branch of the Hibernia Bank at 1450 Noriega Street, which the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) has just robbed at gunpoint. Includes views from outside and inside the bank and interviews with an eyewitness, who describes shots being fired and with a police detective, who explains why they think the SLA are responsible. This robbery was notable because Patricia Hearst, who'd been kidnapped from her Berkeley apartment on February 4, 1974, by the SLA was captured on security camera footage with the SLA inside this bank, brandishing a semi-automatic M-1 carbine during the robbery. The two men who were shot outside the bank, as the SLA ran from the bank over to a station wagon parked on the corner, were Peter Markoff and Eugene Brennan. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
