Brush fires near El Sobrante and El Cerrito
About This Item
KPIX-TV news footage from September 22, 1970, with reporter Steve Huss featuring scenes of firefighters tackling brush fires near El Sobrante and El Cerrito, in the East Bay hills. These broke out shortly after a major wildfire to the south in the Oakland Hills that day, which eventually destroyed 37 homes south east of the UC Berkeley campus. Huss asks a fire chief about speculation these smaller fires were caused by arson and the chief replies this is "very likely."Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
