Apocalypse Now general release at Northpoint Theatre

KRON-TV news footage from September 21, 1979, featuring scenes from the Northpointe Theatre at 2290 Powell Street in San Francisco, where Francis Coppola's 'Apocalypse Now' is going on general release (in a 70mm print). There had previously been a benefit premiere there 2-days earlier and the movie opened in New York, LA and Toronto, back in August. Includes views of patrons lining up for tickets and interviews with people who explain why they want to catch this movie. Note that KRON also shot film featuring Francis Coppola making a speech at the reception dinner held at Shang Yuen Restaurant afterwards, but this footage was not passed to us and is no longer available.
