Marriage on Alcatraz (1966)

KRON-TV news footage from June 12, 1966, featuring scenes from Alcatraz Island, where John and Barbara Catelli are getting married. The bride, née Barbara Hart (1946-2007) grew up on Alcatraz, where her parents John Edward and Marie Louise Hart became caretakers in 1949. Note that Barbara's sister Betty was also married on Alcatraz, in 1955. Includes views of some of the wedding party arriving on the boat "Martha", of the wedding ceremony conducted by the Rev. Byron E. Eshelman (a former Alcatraz Chaplain) and of the bride and groom leaving on a helicopter, piloted by John Catelli. Note there were over 100 people in this wedding party and this was the most people that had been on Alcatraz since the Federal prison located there closed in 1963.
