The first yearbook for San Francisco State was published in 1926. This edition of the Franciscan presented a time capsule of young ladies with bobbed hairstyles and one Asian American student, Alice Fong. Chinese Americans traditionally attended special segregated schools in San Francisco. Alice Fong Yu, the first Chinese American hired as a bilingual teacher in a San Francisco public school, graduated from San Francisco State in 1926.
