"Art Club" from the "1928 Franciscan" yearbook (page 73)
About This Item
Photograph of the Art Club. Susan Mayer was the first faculty sponsor of the Art Club (established in Spring of 1925) at San Francisco State Teachers College, which was an artist social club where students worked on projects together and explored San Francisco's rich art scene. Photographs of the group show girls in artist smocks, it is definitely an art group. The officers in fall 1927 were Agnes Frey (president); Virginia Carniglia (vice president); Marie Curran (secretary) and Lillian Bianchini (treasurer). Officers for spring semester were Marie Schmidt (president), Lois Montgomery (vice president), Madelyn Munk (secretary), and Marie Curran (treasurer).
