Photograph of early International Club established in fall of 1929 under the guidance of Sociology professor Bertha Monroe. The first officers in fall, 1929, included: Elizabeth Best (president), Christine Huttmann (vice president), Ida Lane (corresponding secretary) and Mary Kennett (secretary-treasurer). Spring 1930 officers included: Christine Huttmann (president), Elizabeth Best (corresponding secretary), and Jerusha Arsanis. Ida Lane died during the following school year and received the following memoriam in the 1931 Franciscan (page 62): "A pattern flung against the screen of life / To flicker joyously and then to fade, / Leaving a memory that lingers on / In poignant tears to sooth the heartache made."
