"Associated Veteran Students" from the "1947 Franciscan" yearbook (page 155)

About This Item

Photograph of the Associated Veteran Students was established in March 1946 and was open to all student veterans that served any of the armed forces of the United Nations during World War II. The veterans attending San Francisco State College on the G.I. Bill were older than traditional students and became an activist group on campus. In fall of 1946, this group participated in a protest of streetcar ticket fees and established a Vocational Guidance Center on campus. Members pictured pictured include Bill Crim, Bob Stefanou, Marne Camp (president), Wanda Kerr (treasurer), Bill Dennis (vice president); Jack Root, Bob Doherty, Jay Quinn, Dan Faconer, Bell Burns, Eldon Randall, and Dan Oakes.
