About This Item

Photographic spread about the events surrounding San Francisco State College's Homecoming football game against the Sacramento State Hornets held on November 10, 1956. For the first time, San Francisco State had a float parade that traveled up Market Street featuring seven floats produced by student organizations. Philicia Capps (homecoming queen) and Bob Doebert (campus king) were crowned. President J. Paul Leonard presided over dinner and dancing at the Peacock Court at the Mark Hopkins Hotel along with Olga Perkins (alumni association president) and Ed Sullivan (associated students president); Jim Norton (commissioner of student activities) was the general chair of the homecoming events, and yell leaders and cheerleaders and Gator fans kept spirit high as the Gator football team had a 26-0 victory with two touchdown passes by Manuel Perry in Cox Stadium.
