About This Item
San Francisco State College student John Kikuchi was one of nineteen Japanese-American students interned during World War II. Kikuchi, pictured first on left in front row, with San Francisco State’s 1942 boxing team, was denied Block “S” recognition. Kikuchi later received his Block “S” award from President Robert A. Corrigan. “The Garden of Remembrance,” dedicated on April 19, 2002, today honors the Japanese students interned.
