Photographic spread of the historic bill signature authorizing the acquisition of the Lake Merced campus property. Associated Students president Clifford Worth, elected in a run-off vote and served on the Executive Board during the 1938-1939 academic school year, was instrumental in lobbying for a property for San Francisco State College after 15 years of student protests. During the Depression, the Lake Merced Campus site was owned by Spring Valley Water Company before it sold its operations to the City of San Francisco. California Governor Culbert L. Olson signed the bill with SFSC President Dr. Alexander C. Roberts (left), and Senator Jack Shelley (right). The campus was expected to have Spanish-style buildings, and the work was expected to be completed by late-1941, but World War II interrupted construction.
