Journalism student Pierre Salinger (1925-2004) worked as a reporter for the student newspaper “Golden Gater” in spring 1943. As the war effort ramped up, more and more SFSC men left to serve, and Salinger move up rapidly in college politics and the newspaper, soon becoming managing editor when he started a column called “Meanderings.”
