About This Item

San Francisco State College student Shizuko Mabel Yamamoto was one of nineteen Japanese-American students interned during World War II. However, Yamamoto, of San Francisco, California, earned her B.A. degree in Elementary and Junior High Education and was pictured in the 1942 Franciscan yearbook. “The Garden of Remembrance,” dedicated on April 19, 2002, today honors the Japanese students interned.
