About This Item
DOMENICHINO (aka Domenico Zampieri (1581 - 1641): This piece was influenced heavily by Rafael's St. Cecilia. Both depict the Roman virgin-martyr whose body was unearthed-intact-in Rome (Trastevere) in 1599. She is the patron saint of music.Domenichino's design includes her playing a viola.
