Juan Baptist VELDERRAIN (active 1770 - 1790): The foundations were laid by the Jesuit priest and missionary Eusebio Kino in 1700, but it was finished until the Franciscan Jaun Bautista Velderrain came in 1776. The work was done by the Tohona O'odham indians. It was restored starting in 1978. The interior restoration was completed in 1997.
