ETHIOPIAN 2ND GONDARINE STYLE Anonymous (c. 1730 - 19th c): Among the scenes represented are: Slaughter of the Innocents; Flight into Egypt; Compact of Mercy and the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception. The Compact of Mercy relates to the promise Christ gave to pardon all who ask it in the name of Our Lady Mary and is illustrated by Christ and Mary holding hands.
