Iljia Efimovic Repin (1844-1929): Ivan IV lived from 1530-1584. He established a centralized authority after bitter battles with the Boyars (hereditary nobles). Emotionally unstable, Ivan killed his son and heir in 1581, possibly because he sided with the Boyars against his father.
