August Ricard de MONTFERRAND (1786-1858): The architecture is by Montferrand and was restored after the fire of 1837 by Vasily Stasov. The painting of Peter the Great with Glory from the 1730s is by the Venetian Rococo artist Jacopo Amiconi. The silver gilt throne was made for Empress Anna Ioannovna in London by Nicholas Clausen in 1731 and was installed in the throne room in 1837.
