RUSSIAN Anonymous: This bombed-out building was left as a commemoration of the heroic Russian defence against the unsuccessful German attack on Stalingrad (now Volgograd). The seige lasted from the summer of 1942 to February 2, 1943. Axis casualties are believed to have been over 800,00, with Russian loses over a million soldiers in addition to many civilian casualties.
