ROMAN IMPERIAL Anonymous (14 BCE - 284 CE): Right: Arch of Trajan (c. 109; limestone) was erected to celebrate Trajan's granting the status of colonia to Leptis Magna. Left: the Chalcidicum (11-12 CE) may have served as a market. In the distance behind the Arch of Trajan is the Arch of Tiberius (c. 34-36).
