GREEK HELLENISTIC Anonymous (323 BCE - 30 BCE ): The Ptolemaion was a gymnasium built during the reign of Ptolemy VIII. The philosophy of Cyrenaica was 'The purpose of life is to enjoy sensual pleasures.' Under the Romans the gymnasium was converted into a forum. The temple in the center is thought to have been dedicated to Julius Caesar.
