About This Item
GREEK ARCHAIC Anonymous (700 BCE - 480 BCE ): Located south of the Agora outside of the city walls. Founded around 610 BCE and used until the earthquake of 262 CE, the sanctuary was spread over three main levels. At least 2 of the levels can be dated to the Hellenistic era. Dishes were found indicating food-based ceremonies. The sanctuary contained many statues in tempiettos. Five were dedicated to the goddess Venusta.
