HADRIANIC Anonymous (117-138): In 115 CE, the Cyrenaican Jewish community revolted due to unequal treatment under Roman rule and the 70 CE destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem. In Cyrene, public buildings were destroyed and 200000 Romans and Greeks were killed. Hadrian (r. 117-138) brought in new settlers and rebuilt the city. The monument is located at the basilica.
