About This Item
INSCRIPTION PAINTER (act. 570 BCE-c. 530 BCE): The vase has scenes from the Trojan War. Odysseus and Diomedes infiltrate the Thracian camp outside the walls of Troy hoping to steal their horses. On the front Odysseus slits the throat of a Thracian warrior. On the back Diomedes grabs the sleeping Thracian King Rhesos before killing him. On the sides the horses are set free including the famous white horse with golden teeth.
