ETRUSCAN Anonymous: This is a detail of a plaque recovered inside Temple A at Pyrgi sanctuary. The plaque illustrates the Greek myth The Seven against Thebes. The detail of the plaque shows Tydeus and Melanippos who have wounded each other in a battle. Tydeus is shown bending over the body of Melanippos and biting his head. Greek writings refer to this instance as Tydeus eating the brains of his enemy Melanippos.
