ITALIAN Anonymous: This map shows the floor plan of the sanctuary at the coastal settlement Pyrgi. Ancient Greek writings tell that the Pyrgi sanctuary was dedicated to Eileithya who (an aid in childbirth) and the sea goddess Leukothea as well as Apollo. Excavations in this sancturay have produced a wealth of art and historical knowledge. The map illustrates from left to right- Temple A (dedicated to Thesan/Leukothea); Area C- a sacred area containing altars; Temple B (dedicated to Uni/Astarte); and the Sanctuary of Apollo.
