ETRUSCAN Anonymous: This statue depicts Apollo battling Herakles for the Ceryenian hind. This statue of Apollo was one of four acroterians on the roof of the Sanctuary of Potonaccio in Veii. These four statues were created with the purpose of being viewed from the side and the gestures of the figures communicate the mythological story.
