ROMAN LATE ANTIQUE Anonymous (284 - c. 500): Animals caught in the North African provinces of Rome were transported to Carthage via ox- or bull-drawn carts called angaria. From Carthage the animals were shipped to Rome. It is believed that the mosaicists of Piazza Armerina were from North Africa.
