EDO PEOPLE Anonymous: Bead-covered rattles indicated titles held by the bearers. The vertical scarification marks on the figure's torso indicate he is an Edo citizen. He is a chief as indicated by the pendant on his left hip. Plaques once covered the walls of the royal palace of Benin.
