About This Item
BYZANTINE PROVINCIAL Anonymous (c. 330-1453): The original mosaic floor was made up of 10 rows of 5 square panels set into a grid pattern with a frame of looped-circles. The Geon (or Gihon) was one of the four paradisiacal rivers of Eden in the Book of Genesis (Chapter 2). Nilotic panels with birds, fish, and flowers may reflect Egyptian influence.
