About This Item
Pietro Antonio SOLARI (c.1450-1493): Spasskaya (SaviorÃs) Tower was built in 1491 by Solari. Originally called Frolovskaya Tower it was the main entrance to the Kremlin and was half its present height. Ogurtsov and Halloway added the top in 1624-1625 making the tower 67.3 meters high. (A star was added to the top in 1935 making the total height 71 meters.)
