ASSYRIAN EARLY COLONY PERIOD Anonymous (1920 BCE-1740 BCE): Letter (tablet plus small supplement) from Ashur-malik in Ashur to his brother Ashur-idi in Kanesh complaining about the lack of winter supplies. Thousands of letters were found at Kultepe (ancient Kanesh) all written by merchants who had come to Kanesh from Ashur in Assyria to establish a karum (trading center) c.1900 BCE.
