GREEK HELLENISTIC Anonymous (323 BCE - 30 BCE ): Epicurus (341-c. 271 BCE) was the founder of the Epicurean school of philosophy in Athens. Roman copy of a Greek sculpture originally made for the Pergamon Library. Pergamon Library philosopher portraits were copied often in the Roman era. This portrait was found with others near the Via Appia outside Rome.
