Wedgwood Portland Vase. First edition.
About This Item
Josiah WEDGWOOD (1730-1795): Wedgwood made his first copy of the ancient Roman Portland Vase (c. 5-25 CE) in 1789 and followed it with a first edition of 50 copies in 1790. His vase was reissued several times; it matched the ancient vase in shape and size but not material. This version was made at the Wedgwood Etruria Factory.
