CENTRAL ASIAN Anonymous: Probably made in Bukhara (Sogdiana) in central Asia. The affronted animals motif was used in Sasanian Iran and spread widely throughout central and western Asia as well as the Byzantine world. This fragment was found in a reliquary in Verdun Cathedral in France.
