ENGLISH GOTHIC Anonymous (active c. 1220-1500 - ): A cope is a cape-like ecclesiastical vestment worn for Christian church ceremonies. Named for the Bridgettine convent of Syon in Middlesex which once owned it. Shows scenes from the Life of the Virgin and the Life of Christ and the Apostles.
