YEMENI Anonymous: Sana'a is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, a well as the largest ancient city in the Arab world. According to Yemeni legend, it was founded by Shem, one of the three sons of Noah, possibly as early as the second century BC. The architecture is said to go back to the 7th century after the Arab conquest, but most of the buildings are more recent.The first high-rise city, the entire Medina has been declared a World Heritage Site. Most of the buildings of the old city were four stories, with some up to seven stories tall. Much of the city was restored in the 1980s.
