Thomas ARCHER (c. 1668 - 1743): Built for Duke of Devonshire in 1687-1707. Great Cascade by Thomas Archer. In the foreground is a ditch called a 'ha-ha' which kept the sheep from approaching the house without interrupting the view with a fence.
