FLCHIN530 – Oratory Performance in Mandarin Chinese
Using the most celebrated, recognized samples of speech, skits, comic talks (Xiangsheng), stageplay, Chinese classic oral performing arts (Shuoshu, Jingyun Dagu, Guanqu, Jingju) and TV-Radio broadcast materials to inspire students ways to help their own talks become aesthetically pleasant and effective. Class activities will, but not limited to, enunciate organized thoughts and articulate public speaking in standard Mandarin. Students will pay close attention to tempo, tone of voices and expressions of emotions and form a new habit of speaking before they are put to perform.
