SOC84 – Global Capital, Global Debt

This course examines the development of global capital from its roots in Western Imperialism to the modern system adopted at Bretton Woods. In particular, we scrutinize the relationship between flows of labor and wealth, and the creation of poverty and debt. The course ends with analysis of the current global debt crisis and what it implies for life in the 21st century.
