ETRUSCAN Anonymous: This statuette was found in the Tomb of Isis in the Polledrara necropolis of Vulci and is probably one of the oldest surviving cult images of a goddess. The female figure's seminudity and her gesture of support to her right breast suggests a divinity of fertitlity and rebirth. The figure is holding a bird that features supernatural characteristics. The identity of the goddess is unknown but a number of goddesses are known to have associations with birds.
