ETRUSCAN Anonymous: This view of the rear of the Sarcophogus of the Spouses shows a couple reclining on a banquet couch. The custom of spouses reclining together while feasting was common in Etruria. The Greek Ionian style of the sculpture can be identified by the representation of the reclining figures with both legs stretched out rather than with one knee raised.
