ETRUSCAN Anonymous: This scene decorates the side of the sarcophagus. The scene shows two figures and two musicians who are participating in the funeral procession for the deceased. The entire scene (not shown) depicts the journey of the deceased to the underworld via a funeral procession where he is welcomed by his wife and accompanied by musicians and a speaker. The procession is symbolic of the commencement of an afterlife rather than the termination of a mortal life.
