ETRUSCAN Anonymous: This scene decorates the side of the sarcophagus. The scene shows two nude youths dancing to the music of two musicians. The scene is part of a larger scene (not shown here) that depicts the journey of the deceased to the underworld. The deceased is shown driving a chariot among a funeral procession- he is accompanied by musicians and greeted by his wife. The lid of the sarcophagus (not shown here) contains a likeness of the deceased in a lifeless and sleeping position. The participation of the deceased in the funeral procession presents a contrast to the depiction of the perpetually sleeping figure on the lid.
