ETRUSCAN Anonymous: This shows the rear view of a cinerary urn that depicts the deceased as a reclining banqueteer who is joined by the female death demon Vanth. The female demon was frequently featured on funerary containers either escorting or carrying the deceased to the underworld. The frontal view shows Vanth as she looks sternly at the deceased and holds a scroll that most likely contains an account of the life of the deceased. The female spirit was usually shown dressed in chiton and often had wings. The rear view of this urn displays the wings of Vanth as one wing touches the shoulder of the banqueteer in a gesture of silent claim.
