The intersection in the middle is Market Street- further south at the bottom of the hills is 18th Street. At 19th Street, it begins to rise sharply. The sign at the right, partially hidden by the pole and the trees, is "Gay Cleaners, Laundry;" named after the Chinese owner. Across Market Street on the left is the Castro Theater.
