Clarence A. Miller, 1947. Professor of Theatre Arts, Chair of Drama, Associate Dean of School and Acting Dean of Creative Arts. BE (1931) Illinois State University; MA (1937) Northwestern University; Ed.D. (1954) Teachers College, Columbia University. Miller did pioneering work over three decades at San Francisco State, specializing in stage lighting. His elaborate productions drew positive reviews from theater critics. His organizational skills enabled the department to produce sixty productions a year. Miller’s last musical “Little Me” scheduled for performance in December 1968 was canceled due to the SFSC Student-led Strike. Miller was responsible for curriculum development, and was instrumental in establishing the University Faculty Club. Retired in 1977. Died on October 18, 1984.
