NEO-ASSYRIAN Anonymous (c. 1000 BCE - 609 BC): From the palace library of the Assyrian King Ashurbanipal (reigned 669-631 BCE) in Nineveh. This 11th tablet of the Gilgamesh epic describes the meeting of Gilgamesh with Utnapishtim who had been forewarned of a plan by the gods to send a great flood. It is written in cuneiform.
